TEACHING SEQUENCE

Objectives:


In our project, we expect our students to work with the ENVIRONMENT in order to acquire new vocabulary, make them aware of the problems that our planet is going through and get them involved so that they can make a change.


Contents:


Use of Simple Present and Simple Past. Used to. Should. Specific vocabulary.


Task 1:
T will use a song as a trigger. Sts will work on the vocabulary and answer some questions to elicit the meaning of the song.
Task 2:
T will provide links online.Sts will get into groups to work on the different links. They will design a poster which they will show and explain to the rest of the class.
Task 3:
T will provide the necessary tools to encourage them to make a video clip on the topis as a final task.

OUR VIDEO

Hi,people in general!
At this point, Ivana and me have been dealing so much with BLOGS, VIDEOS, SONGS... AND THE REST, that we are able to do whatever!! .....OF COURSE, I'm joking!...it's true that we have devoted quite a great deal of time to the task, but ,every now and then, we get stones in the way....All in all, we have improved- technollogically speaking and we have enjoyed all kinds of biscuits, cakes and the unimaginable stages of ¨mates¨.
Although Ivana has got it in her notebook,she has problems watching it!
We agree that TICs in the classroom seem interesting and motivating for our students.

Comprehension of the lyrics

T will ask Sts several questions in order to elicit the comprehension of the lyrics.

1-What is the song about?
2-What does the author say about the blue sky?
3-Why is the air polluted? Which words indicate that the air is contaminated everywhere?
4-Which two problems are mentioned in relation with the oceans?
5-What happens with radiation and what is affected by it?
6-What does the author mean by overcrowded land?
7-What does YOU refer to in the last question?
8-Why is the song called MERCY MERCY ME?


Sts will get into groups and choose one of the topics to work with.T will provide links to facilitate their work.

LET'S TAKE CARE OF OUR PLANET!

We are going to deal with the environment and what each of us can do in order to take care of it.

Teaching assignment:

  1. Teacher will provide Sts with a list of words connected with the environment:
                      RIVERS-SKY-POLLUTION-GLOBALWARMING-GROUND-MOUNTAINS- 
                      
                      OCEANS-FOREST-MERCURY-GROUND -ANIMALS-RADIATION-SEA-

     2.  Sts watch and listen to the video clip MERCY MERCY ME by GAYE MARVIN. As they listen they underline in the list, the words that they hear.

CMAP IN THE CLASSROOM ...WITH THE NETBOOKS!

    After introducing PRESENT PERFECT to my 5° year class, I told the students about this programme to create conceptual maps and encouraged them to show the differences between PAST SIMPLE and PRESENT PERFECT.
               I was surprised to see the resuts! They enjoyed doing it, not only because they discovered  a new tool, but also because, they said, got the differences clear......
